Senior Accountant - month-end close (Seattle, WA)

Cedar Beacon Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Seattle. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with pipe repairs. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Seattle. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
