Senior Accountant - month-end close (San Jose, CA)

Foxglove Rook Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for underwriting files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 11 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
