Senior Accountant - month-end close (San Jose, CA)

Rivermark Bright Markets is a San Jose retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with store inventory. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
