Senior Accountant - month-end close (San Antonio, TX)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Lakeside Transit Planning Partners and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 374 people based in San Antonio. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with route schedules. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in San Antonio. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
