Senior Accountant - month-end close (Rochester, NY)

Summit Nest Markets serves neighbourhoods around Rochester with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around promotions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Rochester. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
