Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Westbrook Birch Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Memphis, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 150 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Memphis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
