Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Summit Bridge Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Albuquerque region. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around outage response against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Albuquerque. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
