Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Bright Mill Arts Center runs a venue and education programmes in Detroit. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. Everyone pitches in on show days. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ticketing. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Detroit. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
