Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Yarrow Banking Services and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. We keep decisions close to customers and expect people to explain things plainly. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to card disputes, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around loan files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with card disputes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Buffalo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
