Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Highbridge Birch Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Minneapolis. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around landfill records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with service complaints. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Minneapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
