Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Highbridge Field Water Authority Partners is a public water utility serving the Rochester area. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 135 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Rochester. • We reply to every applicant.
