Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Fernwood Yarrow Civic Services works with county and city offices around Jackson. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. We follow procedures carefully and explain them clearly. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to procurement, and clear open items. • Track costs around permits against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with procurement. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Jackson. • We reply to every applicant.
