Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Northwind Rook Staffing is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for onboarding, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 36 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around retention against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to onboarding, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with onboarding. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Philadelphia. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
