Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Redstone Fern Transit Planning Group is a transit-planning firm in El Paso working with agencies and riders, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service alerts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with service alerts. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
