Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Clearpath River Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for catastrophe response, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
