Senior Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Ironwood Birch Transit Planning is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for service alerts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with service alerts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Portland. • We reply to every applicant.
