Senior Accountant - month-end close (Philadelphia, PA)

Westbrook Lakeside Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Philadelphia working with agencies and riders. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with route schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Philadelphia, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
