Senior Accountant - month-end close (Philadelphia, PA)

Ironwood Birch Energy Group supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Philadelphia, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. Safety comes first on every shift. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with outage response. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Philadelphia. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
