Senior Accountant - month-end close (Oakland, CA)

We are growing our team at Lumen Timber Water Authority and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 190 people based in Oakland. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with capital projects. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
