Senior Accountant - month-end close (Louisville, KY)

We are growing our team at Redstone Rook Water Authority and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Louisville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
