Senior Accountant - month-end close (Knoxville, TN)

Greenridge Field Water Authority is a public water utility serving the Knoxville area, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 150 people based in Knoxville. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
