Senior Accountant - month-end close (Kansas City, MO)

We are growing our team at Lumen Ashton Civic Services and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 687 people based in Kansas City. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to constituent requests, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with constituent requests. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Kansas City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
