Senior Accountant - month-end close (Kansas City, MO)

Redstone Bright Insurance is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for underwriting files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Claims teams work together and share what they learn. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with underwriting files.
