Senior Accountant - month-end close (Kansas City, MO)

Rivermark Sparrow Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Kansas City, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 74 people based in Kansas City. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Kansas City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
