Senior Accountant - month-end close (Jackson, MS)

Bluepeak Sparrow Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Jackson design routes and schedules, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to survey data, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with survey data. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Jackson. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
