Senior Accountant - month-end close (Jackson, MS)

Northwind Nest Staffing is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for timekeeping, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 50 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around onboarding against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
