Senior Accountant - month-end close (Jackson, MS)

We are growing our team at Harborlight River Community Partners Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 161 people based in Jackson. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client intake, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with client intake. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Jackson. • We reply to every applicant.
