Senior Accountant - month-end close (Jackson, MS)

Amberfield Quarry Arts Center is an arts centre in Jackson with a full calendar of events. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. We run on creativity, deadlines and a lot of goodwill. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around ticketing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with visitor services. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Jackson. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
