Senior Accountant - month-end close (Honolulu, HI)

Summit Maple Manufacturing Group is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for work orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Many of our supervisors started on the floor. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around scrap and rework against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Honolulu, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
