Senior Accountant - month-end close (Grand Rapids, MI)

Summit Clear Freight is a Grand Rapids logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Grand Rapids. • We reply to every applicant.
