Senior Accountant - month-end close (Grand Rapids, MI)

Fernwood West Telecom Group is a telecommunications provider in Grand Rapids focused on reliable home and business connections. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Grand Rapids. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around service installations against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer tickets.
