Senior Accountant - month-end close (Grand Rapids, MI)

Northwind Rowan Foods Group makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Grand Rapids, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with ingredient orders. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
