Senior Accountant - month-end close (Grand Rapids, MI)

Lumen Ridge Construction builds commercial and industrial projects around Grand Rapids. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around project schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to permits, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with permits. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
