Senior Accountant - month-end close (El Paso, TX)

We are growing our team at Ironwood Wilder Insurance Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 966 people based in El Paso. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with catastrophe response. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in El Paso. • We reply to every applicant.
