Senior Accountant - month-end close (Detroit, MI)

We are growing our team at Foxglove Nest Financial and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around account servicing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to payment disputes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with payment disputes. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Detroit. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
