Senior Accountant - month-end close (Chicago, IL)

Westbrook Meridian Inspection Services is an inspection company in Chicago with field technicians and lab staff, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around scheduling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with test reports.
