Senior Accountant - month-end close (Chicago, IL)

We are growing our team at Amberfield Fox Auto Group and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Customers come back because we explain what they need and what they do not. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to parts orders, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around warranty claims against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
