Senior Accountant - month-end close (Charleston, SC)

Cedar Quarry Environmental Services Group serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Charleston, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Charleston. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to landfill records, and clear open items. • Track costs around service complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
