Senior Accountant - month-end close (Austin, TX)

Amberfield Thistle Housing provides affordable homes and support services around Austin, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 188 people based in Austin. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around lease compliance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with rent assistance. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Austin. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
