Senior Accountant - month-end close (Austin, TX)

Fernwood Cross Banking Services is a community-focused bank in Austin serving households and small businesses, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. We keep decisions close to customers and expect people to explain things plainly. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with account openings. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Austin, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
