Senior Accountant - month-end close (Austin, TX)

Ironwood Pike Press Group is a printer and publisher in Austin serving local and national clients. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Austin. What you will do • Track costs around proofing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to bindery work, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with bindery work. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Austin, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
