Senior Accountant - month-end close (Austin, TX)

Harborlight Clear Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Austin region. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on month-end close. Safety comes first on every shift. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with hardship programmes. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Austin. • We reply to every applicant.
