Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

Bright Iron Property Management is a Virginia Beach property manager with leasing, maintenance and resident services. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. We are flexible about schedules. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to maintenance requests, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around rent collection against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Virginia Beach, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
