Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Virginia Beach, VA)

We are growing our team at Silverline Bright Water Authority and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Crews and office staff work closely together. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with capital projects. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Virginia Beach. • We reply to every applicant.
