Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Savannah, GA)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Field Water Authority and adding a Senior Accountant whose main responsibility will be grant and fund accounting. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with billing accounts. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Savannah. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
