Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (San Jose, CA)

Redstone Vista Water Authority is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for meter reading, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with meter reading. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
