Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Rochester, NY)

Northwind West Transit Planning is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for ridership counts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 182 people based in Rochester. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
