Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (Richmond, VA)

Nova Orchard Farms is looking for a Senior Accountant. The job centres on grant and fund accounting for cold storage, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Weather sets the schedule, and we plan around it. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around grower contracts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with cold storage. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Richmond, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
