Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Harborlight Pike Learning Group operates schools and learning programmes around Baltimore, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our grant and fund accounting. Collaboration between teachers and staff is strong. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around school calendars against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to family communication, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with family communication. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Baltimore. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
