Senior Accountant - grant and fund accounting (remote)

Fernwood Field Markets Group operates grocery and general-merchandise stores around Grand Rapids. We are hiring a Senior Accountant to take on grant and fund accounting. We like people who know our customers by name. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around shrink and waste against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with online orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Grand Rapids. • We reply to every applicant.
